Reading, UK, 17th November 2020 – The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) and implementation partner Invenio have launched four new services on the Taxpayer Online Service (TPOS) portal. The portal, which is based on SAP S/4HANA® software, was introduced to modernise tax administration and enhance taxpayer experiences in Fiji.

In December 2019, the TPOS went live, enabling taxpayers 24/7 access to their accounts, statements and business license applications. With the continued focus on simplifying legislations and improving processes to increase compliance, four new services have gone live on the TPOS.

The new service lines are:

    1. Tax Compliance Certificate – Tax Compliance Certificates are issued to individuals and businesses that lodge tax returns and make tax payments in accordance with relevant tax laws. A Tax Compliance Certificate is required by law when an individual or business applies for any registration, permit or license from a government ministry or entity.

    1. Request for Clarification – Taxpayers are entitled to ask tax authorities for clarifications. Before the new online system, this was a manual process, with taxpayers required to fill in a form and take it to the tax office. The TPOS streamlines the process, acting as a reliable mechanism through which tax-related queries can be sent to FRCS, with responses issued to the taxpayer in a timely manner.

    1. Request for Remission of Penalties – Taxpayers issued with penalties can now request for remission and provide information/evidence via the TPOS. The tax authority can approve or reject these requests online.

  1. Request for Time to Pay Arrangements – Taxpayers facing financial difficulties are now able to set up instalment payments, instead of having to pay one-off settlements.

Invenio’s CEO Arun Bala commented: “These new service lines have replaced existing manual processes, creating a taxpayer service that is even more efficient, transparent and compliant. This successful go-live is a testament to the strong partnership between Invenio and FRCS. Together, we have continued to transform the country’s tax landscape, enhancing taxpayer experiences for both citizens and those conducting business within the country.”
